Raising Deaf and Hard of Hearing Kids--Together

These little cute things could make the hearing aids more fun for the kids.

Our son always has orange and blue earmolds. A gator or football would make it perfect!

Those are super cute! We are still struggling to keep our daughters in. I'm sure at some point she is going to realize that she can hear things with them in. But for right now they are just something interrupting with her being able to play with her ears. All of my kids have wanted to play with their ears. So of course with something there, it's all the more interesting. :)

This is her usually. We've tried hats, bands, anything to try and keep them in. :(

Ours has been an unusually good transition for wearing hearing aids. We started him at 1 year old, when he was diagnosed, and just kept them in for 10-20 minutes each day. He was learning to walk at that time which was a mixed blessing. It meant I had to follow him around rather than watch him on the floor. But it also meant that he was up and exploring the world instead of these nubby things in his ears.

I remember the excitement of when he wore them for 2 hours straight one day. Within a week he was wearing them for 5 hours between morning and after nap time. Then it was all day except for sleep time.

We ended up getting a set of basketball and a set of rocket Tube Riders for Christmas (thank you Grandma). But they sort of bumped against his ears and he asked to take them off. We put them on every once in a while for fun, but he doesn't like to wear the tube rider for more than 30 minutes.

Good luck to you.
