Want to Get Away? Mom's Night Inn in Illinois!
Mom's Night Inn is an annual retreat for moms and caregivers of deaf and hard of hearing children. The event will be held on January 24th and 25th of 2009. It is an intimate gathering of moms that includes lots of sharing, laughter and fun. We do crafts, massages, manicures and more! We will have a panel of deaf and hard of hearing adults who will be sharing their personal journeys and professions.

Jen said… - I have a great 3 yr old boy who is HH, wears Hearing Aids. I am married and work full time. We found out at birth that he had a hearing loss. As of 5 months old we know his hearing was 60db right and 65db in left. He is scheduled for a sedated ABR beginning of next week to see if his hearing has worsened since his last test. Unfortunately he tires quickly to booth testing and this is our alternative. He is starting to sign more now, that has been a difficult road with him. He used to close his eyes when you tried signing to him. He is very loving and energetic happy little guy. The only time he uses speech really is if he is prompted by me or my husband. Very little on his own. I could go on and on...but that is a short summary. I hope to be able to relate to some here, I have trouble communicating with my girlfriends with children because they do not have the same struggles and successes as I with my son. Hope that I may be helpful to others as well. Thanks.
