This is my story! My daughter Brettanie was born with Congential Rubella(form of german measels).She is 14 years old. Not only she is deaf she also has cerybal palsy. My first born was a boy who was born healthy.But after I delievered Dakota and went back for my 6 week check up I was gaven a rubella shot for future pregancy. Then in 1994 I found out that I was preganate. Went through the normal routine.Except I went to a doctor who said that I was going to have a downs baby and I was to small of frame to carry and deliever that it would best for me to terminate the pregnacy. I got a second opionion and the that doctor said I was just fine had nothing to worry about.Went on with the pregancy and deliever a baby girl in1995. She was a angel from heaven.In May 1995 Brettanie became ill.She was amitted in to the hospital. They did not know what was wrong with her. Test after test spinal taps after spinal taps.You name it they did it. She ended up with a feeding tube in her stomach, they tied her esopigus cause all she did was throw up her milkup. Thats when we found out that she was profoundly deaf. She went in 2007 for a cocalear implant. Where she can hear but she has to learn to talk. She is my angel and no matter what the outcome is never give up.
